Auto glass repair in Sand Springs, OK

Sand Springs is on the opposite side of Tulsa from Broken Arrow, and it is still one road. SH-51 crosses the Arkansas River here, runs east through Tulsa, and becomes the Broken Arrow Expressway on the far side. Most of the chips people bring to a glass shop in this part of the metro have a similar origin: a highway, a truck, a stone.

The town is bigger and more spread out than its reputation. It counted 19,874 people at the 2020 census, and its limits reach into three counties, Osage, Creek and Tulsa. Charles Page founded it in 1911, and it incorporated as a city the next year.

One freeway, two names

Between Tulsa and town, US-64 and US-412 run together as the Sand Springs Expressway. West of Sand Springs the same road is the Keystone Expressway, and it ends at SH-151, the road across Keystone Dam. SH-97 crosses it north and south through the middle of town.

That expressway is how Sand Springs gets to work in the morning and how the rest of the metro gets to Keystone Lake and Keystone State Park on the weekend. Lake traffic means pickups and trailers at highway speed, and anything loose on a trailer or in a truck bed can come off. Oklahoma law, 47 O.S. 14-105, requires loose loads to be covered, but a chip does not care whose fault it was.

Storm damage here is not only hail

When people think about weather and glass in Oklahoma, they think about hail. Sand Springs has a reminder that wind does it too. An EF2 tornado hit the town on March 25, 2015, killed one resident, injured 30 and damaged 50 mobile homes.

Downtown was renamed the Box District in late 2023. South of the river is Prattville, annexed in 1965. Around Case Community Park, out toward the airport, up SH-97, the job gets done at the house or at work, wherever the car is sitting.

When to wait, or skip it
